Did you know the USPS has been and continues to offer additional discounts on postage for certain types of mail.
The USPS says “Enhance the way your business interacts and engages with consumers through mail. USPS promotes the best practices for integrating direct mail with mobile technology, and offers promotions and incentives to help you continuously invest in the future of your business.”
The discounts (up to 2% ) extend from QR codes and PURLs to emerging technologies such as NFC (Near Filed Communication Chips) and Augmented Reality. Here is a summary for the rest of 2014:
Emerging Technology Promotion › Promotion Period: August 1 – September 30, 2014 During this promotion, business mailers who use Near Field Communication, “Enhanced” Augmented Reality, or other developing technologies that enhance how consumers interact and engage with mail, can get an upfront 2 percent postage discount on eligible mailpieces.Registration is June 15 to September 30, 2014.
Color Print in First-Class Mail® Transaction Promotion › Promotion Period: August 1 – December 31, 2014 This promotion will provide an upfront postage discount to mailers who use dynamic/variable color print for marketing and consumer messages on their bills and statements. Registration is June 15 to December 31, 2014.
Promotion Period: November 1 – December 31, 2014 Businesses that make use of mobile barcodes or print/mobile technology to provide convenient ways for customers to shop via their mobile device, may qualify for postage discounts. Additional rebates may be available for qualified mailings. Registration is September 15 to December 31, 2014.
